To gain the benefit of stronger spin out resistance by using a hex (or half hex) rivet nut, the user must create a hex hole in the parent application (the material that is accepting the rivet nut).
In order to create a hex hole:
- Some manufacturers will laser a hole into the sheet metal, or create the hex hole during the molding process when creating a plastic component.
- However, some users may say, “Hey, we aren’t able to laser in a hex hole, as our volume is not high enough!” And Rivet Nut USA would reply, “No problem! We have a low-to-medium volume solution for you!” Please call us and ask for the pneumatic hand tool (Cardinal’s Part Number 9991) that “punches” a hex hole into your parent application. The experts at Rivet Nut USA will assure your parent application meets the requirements that can be use with our P/N 9991 handheld hex hole cutting tool.
