A nutsert tool and a rivet tool are similar but not the same. A nutsert tool is specifically designed to install threaded inserts, which are generically called "rivet nuts" (brand names of rivet nuts might include, Rivnut® or Nutsert®) into materials, allowing bolts to be screwed into them. A rivet tool, on the other hand, is used to install standard blind tubular rivets that permanently join materials together, rivets do not have internal threads.
