I see with this C500 kit, the plus nuts have clipped sides on the head that create an oval head to fit into the install tool. The style of the head that you are referring to is “racktrack head”, as it is an oval shaped head that facilitates an easy install with a very inexpensive tool. That is the sole purpose of the racetrack head, so that is can fit into a “slot” of an inexpensive tool. These kits are great for a one-off fix, or they are frequently added into aftermarket accessories like roof racks for pickup trucks.
