Stainless rivet nuts are typically made of 416 stainless steel (construction grade) or 300 series stainless steel (food grade). The 316 stainless steel is the best performing stainless steel, as it is least likely to rust, even in the most salty environments. 304 and 302 stainless steel perform admirably as well, and is sufficient in almost all food grade or marine applications, but 316 stainless steel is the best of the best.
